Areas of Expertise

The CFPP facilitates public policy formulation and the strengthening of democratic institutions.  Our researchers and analysts continue to be on the cutting edge in their fields, working with decision-makers in both the public and private sectors to find solutions to today's difficult, sensitive, and important problems.  Through our dedication to high-quality and objective research and analysis, and with sophisticated analytical tools developed, the CFPP engages clients to create knowledge, insight, information, options, and solutions that will be both effective and enduring.  The current CFPP team intends to develop a unique style, blending scrupulous non-partisanship with rigorous, fact-based analysis to tackle society’s most pressing problems under the following programs:

Development Watch Program
The CFPP’s Development Watch Program ventures into its developmental program’s achievements and failures.  It particularly looks into the effectiveness of program and the transparency focus areas. With a major quarterly and annual publication on the State of Development in Afghanistan, the program also places emphasis on areas such as committee reports, proceedings, web and the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Political Research Program
Quality political research, completely objective and non-partisan, remains a cross-cutting theme through all streams of CFPP work.  However, under this area, objective and non-partisan quality political research is carried out in the shape of Briefing Papers, Background Papers, Case Studies, Reports and Directories for the benefit of public policymaker, legislators, legislative staff, political parties, the media, civil society organisations and the general public.

Public Legislative Forum
Involves the holding of public discussion and dialogue on the legislative performance of the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies and legislation under consideration or passed by the legislatures. The forum is a means to sensitise civil society and for the public to get involved in democratic decision making and legislative issues via gauging and gathering public input. Through this forum, opinion of various sections of society are channelled to the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies.

Political Parties Program
Focused on strengthening political parties for a more robust democracy in the country, this programme undertakes national and international training and sensitisation of political party office-bearers and personnel, as well as provides avenues for dialogue and briefings in this regard.
