The Center for Policy Priorities

Introduction:
The Center for Policy Priorities (CFPP) is an independent think tank, research and training organisation based in Kabul, Afghanistan. It is the initiative of Afghan professionals to conduct and encourage multi-disciplinary research and training in the different areas of public policy and to contribute to the development of sound policies. The CFPP serves as a forum for (i) analysing policy proposals and public programs; (ii) undertaking independent research of current issues; (iii) creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue between those who create, influence and have a stake in policies; and (iv) the over sighting of political and economic programs and disseminating information to stakeholders as well as the public at large. The CFPP strives to inform public policy formulation and implementation, while contributing to increased knowledge and awareness of issues. Consequently, the Center aims to contribute to developing skills and building institutional capabilities, and to advance public debate about social, political and economic issues.
It is therefore that the CFPP research deals with a wide range of social and economic topics and combines robust qualitative and quantitative methods with innovative analysis and thinking. What we produce is presented and published in the form of handbooks, introductory booklets, background papers, policy briefs, proceedings, working papers, and reports. In brief, we disseminate the findings of our researches through national and international conferences, symposia and seminars; publication of periodicals, publication of books and contributions to the mass media.
The CFPP team is devoted to transforming ideas into action for development, justice, and durable peace. The Center strengthens and links economic, political and social movements through articulation of root principles and fundamental rights, research and analysis on current events and issues, and connections to policymakers, academics, and activists at all levels. As a multi-issue think tank that works for the prosperity of Afghan masses, we offer a cross-cutting analysis with a historical perspective.
To facilitate long-term planning as well as rapid response to policy issues, the CFPP's projects are configured in different clusters, i.e. (i) To offer broad analysis of emerging issues and potential initiatives and their impacts, and serve as a watchdog on new developments; (ii) To encourage the use of billions of dollars worth of financial resources which are the result of newfound opportunities that emerged after the fall of Taliban and are reshaping lives and the environment dramatically, in pro-poor policies and programs; and (iii) To unite scholars, local activists, national advocacy groups, and policymakers to define the economic, social, and political requisites for human decency and to further democracy and economic justice.
